Sunday was a fantastic day for the village with the clouds and rain clearing right on queue for the playing field activities, and of course the arrival of the Tour de Yorkshire.
Thank you to everyone who came along to the field day, we all had great fun. The anticipation and excitement around the village and field was palpable before the Tour arrived.
It was wonderful to see so many people out on the streets and in the playing field enjoying the occasion. The ice cream van, hot dog stand, bouncy castle attendant and face painters were kept busy all afternoon.
As you know we decided to direct any proceeds from the field day to a charity (Pod Volunteer) directly involved with the aid effort after the Nepal Earthquake.
We are extremely pleased and proud to say that through sales of ice creams, hot dogs and kind donations of villagers, we raised over £600 (once gift aid is accounted for). Thank you so much for your generosity. This money will be arriving in Nepal by next week and will be doing good straight away getting aid and support to the people affected by the quake and the aftermath.
We hope you enjoyed the whole days events, it was definitely a day to remember!
